Barbara De Vivi
The center of her research is the hybridization and overlapping of images, their ability to survive over time to re-emerge in new contexts. In her paintings, the artist relates traditional iconographic motifs with personal instances and an imaginary linked to contemporary aesthetics, outlining stories which, while referring to a shared cultural heritage, remain open and fragmentary.
Barbara De Vivi obtained her second level diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in 2018, after taking part in the Erasmus+ project while studying at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid (ES). In 2017 she participated in the residence of the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation (Venice) and won the Combat Award. In 2018 she won the Euromobil Under 30 Award. In 2021 one of her works was selected by Chus Martinez to become part of the Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo Collection, presented to the public with the Painting in person exhibition sponsored by the Castello di Rivoli Museum. Since 2021 she lives and works between Venice and Newcastle upon Tyne (UK).
