Giovanni Sartori Braido

Mestre, Venezia, 1989. Based in Mestre

Giovanni Sartori Braido's work is characterized by enigmatic figures with an artificial and inhuman appearance; they are placed inside icy spaces without atmosphere, with clear references to computer graphics, giving all this a strong sense of melancholy. The subjects come from the most varied sources: old photographs, school encyclopaedias, magazines, as well as cinema and television. These are fragments of forgotten images, coming from different times and contexts and exhumed from their oblivion, finally placed as if from the memory of an out of control computer, unable to grasp their nature.
