Artist Øystein Aasan

Øystein Aasan

Kristiansand, Norway, 1977. Based in Berlin

Øystein Aasan studied at the Oslo Tegne og Maleskole and the Fine Arts Department of the Håndverks Statens og Kunstindustrihøyskole (National College of Art and Design). Aasan uses a combination of materials and a variety of media, such as Plexiglas, wood, paper, paint and ink, sticky letters, and photography, to address reproduction qualities and the fragility of memory. His works draw the viewer's attention to the ability to convey meaning and become more aware of the unintended messages that inevitably accompany the words. He has exhibited at the Sørlandet Museum of Art in Kristiansand, Norway, the Kunstraum NOE in Vienna and the "Lights On" at the Fearnley Museum Astrup of Art in Oslo, Norway.
