Two Artists One Studio
On the occasion of DC Open 2026 from 4 to 6 September, RizzutoGallery will temporarily suspend the traditional exhibition format and transform its space into a place of artistic production, a shared studio in which the everyday practice of two artists becomes an integral part of the visitor experience.
For three days, Mattia Barbieri (Italy, 1984) and Metin Çelik (Türkiye, 1984) will share the same space and the same time, bringing to light the intimate dimension of the creative process that usually remains hidden.
At the end of the three-day open studio, works by both artists will remain on view at RizzutoGallery Düsseldorf until 24 October 2026.
The artist’s studio is one of the most intimate spaces of contemporary artistic practice. Normally removed from public view, it is a place in which time takes on a different meaning from that of the exhibition. It is a space of waiting, error, experimentation and the patient construction of thoughts, images and forms.
RizzutoGallery will temporarily make this dimension accessible by transforming its Düsseldorf venue into a living laboratory, an open studio in which the two artists will work side by side, each maintaining their own autonomy, tools and artistic language, while the sharing of space and time becomes an opportunity for mutual observation, dialogue and exchange. The gallery will accommodate works still in progress alongside completed pieces, together with books, sketches, materials, notes, tools and everything the two artists consider necessary for their ongoing creative processes.
Visitors will be free to enter the gallery’s temporary studio, spend time in the space, speak with the artists and follow the gradual development of the works. They will be able to witness moments of concentration, pauses and spontaneous conversations, observing at close range the gestures, decisions, reconsiderations and intuitions that accompany the creation of each artwork. As the project will remain in constant evolution throughout the event, every return visit during the three days of DC Open will reveal a partially transformed setting, making each experience different from the one before.
With Two Artists, One Studio, RizzutoGallery reaffirms its vocation as an active platform for the promotion and presentation of contemporary art, as well as a space for research, production and exchange, in which the creative process is accorded the same value as the finished work.
